Moschopolis according to the Greeks or Voskopoje according to the Albanians, this village is located in southeastern Albania.
During the 18th century, it was the cultural and commercial center of the Aromanians. It has hosted the first printing house in the Ottoman Balkans outside Constantinople, educational institutions and numerous churches, more than 24 churches were built there.Also it became a leading center of Greek culture. Unfortunately, nowadays the visitors may admire a few of them, such as: the Monastery of St. John the Baptist, the Church of St. Mary, the Church of Saint Athanasius, the Church of Saint Nicholas, among other churches or buildings which are now considered culturally, historically or aesthetically significant.This village is surrounded by hills and forests and, this area is a favorite spot for winter sports such as skiing and snowboarding. With no doubts, we can say that Voskopoja village is the place where nature meets art and history.
