NAME: The name of the city has been linked with that of Petrizen, a fort in Dardania mentioned by Procopius in the 6th century.

Prizren has been traditionally identified with Theranda, a town of the Roman era, located on the banks of the Prizren River between the foothills of the Sharr Mountains, in southern Kosovo

The characteristic city of Prizren, with a rich past and at the heart of the turbulent history of the War of Independence is constitutionally designated as the historical capital of the country.

The League of Prizren is one of the most important movements in the history of the Albanian nation because it was the first major Albanian movement organized administratively, politically and militarily since the time of Skenderbeu.

Prizren Fortress is a hilltop fortification that overlooks the Prizren River, which flows through Prizren. Archaeological excavations in Prizren Fortress indicate that its fortress area has seen habitation and use since the Bronze Age.

Another cultural heritage monument in Prizren is the Old Stone Bridge, built in 16 century in oriental style and was rebuilt in 1982 after its destruction due to floods.
