NAME: The origin of the name of the city is unknown, the inhabitants of the city call themselves “Prishtinali” in local Gheg Albanian.

Pristina is the capital and largest city of Kosovo, a young and dynamic city. After Tirana, Pristina has the second largest population of ethnic Albanians and speakers of the Albanian language.
The area of Pristina was the home of several Illyrian peoples and the place where the king of the Dardanians founded the Dardanian kingdom in the 4th century BC.
Among the monuments to visit are: the statue of the national hero Skanderbeg, the large hammam dating from 1470, the imperial mosque built on the initiative of Sultan Mehmet Fatiha, the clock tower and several traditional houses as well as European-influenced architecture buildings such as Kosovo Museum. These symbolize the historical and cultural character of Pristina as it was developed throughout centuries in the spirit of conquering empires
